Leif Davis ‘almost certainly’ will not return to Leeds United
Leeds United left-back Leif Davis “almost certainly” has left the club for good, with his loan at Bournemouth likely permanent, says Beren Cross.
The 22-year-old moved to the south coast after the Whites signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona, but the club are thought to be in the market at the position once again this summer after the signing struggled in his debut season.
Davis has been in and out of the side in the Championship after an initial appearance that lead manager Scott Parker to call him “brilliant” (Bournemouth Echo), but the former Fulham boss said last month that the defender was “doing everything right” (Bournemouth Echo) towards making the move permanent.

Leeds Live’s Cross said in his Q&A yesterday (23 March): “From what was said at the time, it sounds like Davis will almost certainly be staying at Bournemouth.
“It read as though the loan was effectively going to be the first year of a permanent deal at the back end of it.”
Problem position
The left-back spot has proved to be somewhat hard to solve of late, and had Davis been at Elland Road this year he could well have featured a number of times.
Firpo has not so far been the player the club hoped following his arrival from the Camp Nou.
Stuart Dallas has filled in as always but is frequently required to prove his versatility elsewhere.

He is not a specialist left-back anyway, and with him and Firpo both suffering injuries this term, Davis could have been the answer.
That ship has apparently sailed however, and the club are reportedly seriously looking at Anderlecht “assist-machine” Sergio Gomez as the answer (Team Talk).
Firpo still has time to come good, but if the club are already heading back into the market Victor Orta will have to hope that the money goes further than it did last time.
In other Leeds United news, there was disagreement on talkSPORT between Simon Jordan, Jim White and Trevor Sinclair about one star’s future.
