Leicester duo Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison doubtful for Leeds clash with injuries

Leicester have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Leeds with Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison both injury doubts.

The Whites take a trip to the King Power Stadium for their first game of the post-Marcelo Bielsa era, as Jesse Marsch takes charge of the team for the first time.

But the new boss was handed a big boost when it was revealed that Leicester could be without a key duo for the game.

According to journalist Rob Tanner, Portugal international Pereira is suffering from a tight hamstring while playmaker Maddison has an issue with his lower back and hamstring.

There is a chance that one or both players could be available if they show improvements between now and the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, but it seems unlikely that manager Brendan Rodgers would risk them.

Every little helps

Leeds are in a desperate situation at the bottom of the table with nine defeats in their last 12 games and just two points above the relegation zone.

So news that two of their opponents’ better players could miss the game will be very welcome news for the Whites squad and management staff.

Marsch needs to turn results on their head but also will be keen to put his own stamp on the way the team plays, having already admitted that he will be binning the man-to-man style of his predecessor.

A win for Leeds would be huge for momentum but also for the manager, who needs to get the fans onside immediately in order to justify the decision to let Bielsa go ahead of the run in.

Last season they came from behind to earn a 3-1 win over the Foxes away from home and earlier this season they shared the points with a 1-1 draw, so if they can repeat the good result they’ll be happy.
