Leicester City star Conor Coady aims new Leeds United dig on BBC

Leicester City star Conor Coady aimed a new dig at Leeds United as he shared his teammates’ reactions to the 4-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers.

The defender explained that the team had “quite a few” good nights since Leeds’ loss saw them gain automatic promotion, praising the R’s for their “fantastic” performance.

He also commented on the uncertainty in recent weeks with all three of the promotion-challenging teams struggling to put a string of results together to capitalise on the others’ mistakes.

Speaking on the BBC Football Daily podcast [1 May], Coady revealed: “We’ve had quite a good few nights, not just a good night if I’m being honest.

“It’s been since Friday really, seeing the Leeds score, QPR were fantastic on the night, then we wanted to win the league and managed to do that on Monday.

“In the couple of months before, nobody really wanted to take control of the Championship. We were dropping points, then Leeds were dropping points, then Ipswich would drop points. It was getting a bit nervy but we managed to get over the line.”

Coady’s comments come after several digs were aimed at Leeds by Leicester players since their title victory, singing “Leeds are falling apart again” among other chants in videos which emerged on social media.

Leicester’s promotion and subsequent title victory means Leeds and Ipswich will battle for second place with just one game remaining, although the Tractor Boys need to take just one point to pip Leeds to the Premier League.

This means Daniel Farke’s team will have to earn promotion via the playoffs if they are to go up, a competition in which Leeds have a difficult history and is notoriously difficult to get out of – especially during a run of poor form.

With just one win in their last five games, Farke must ensure his team beats Southampton on the final day of the league season to give themselves a chance of promotion if Ipswich slip up, or to fire them into the playoffs with maximum momentum.
