Leeds v Sunderland result predicted by supercomputer ahead of Elland Road clash

Leeds United host Sunderland at Elland Road in what has the potential to be a promotion-deciding encounter.

With both sides chasing automatic promotion, Leeds will be fully aware of the challenge ahead of them as they prepare to face Sunderland in what is rightly billed as a six-pointer.

As things stand, Leeds have a seven-point advantage ahead of the clash, and a win would see their chances of finishing inside the top two improve drastically with a clash against Sheffield United also soon to come.

After a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light last time out between the sides, Leeds will be keen to get their revenge on Sunderland and put a huge dent in the Black Cats’ promotion hopes.

Leeds set for tough encounter with Sunderland

Given the run of form that Leeds are on, many will see the Whites as the favourites heading into the game, and it appears that Opta Analyst see it the same way based on the latest supercomputer predictions (17 February).

Leeds have been awarded a 56.1 per cent chance of coming away from the clash with all three points, while Sunderland are the underdogs with a 21.2 per cent chance of a win forecasted.

That leaves the likelihood of a draw at 22.7 per cent, which would certainly favour the Whites more than it would the Wearsiders.

Sunderland need a win at Elland Road if they are to maintain their automatic promotion credentials and they will undoubtedly serve up a fight.

Leeds must avoid defeat against Sunderland

Daniel Farke’s side will go back to the summit of the Championship if they can avoid defeat, but a win would do wonders for their chances at the title.

With Burnley and Sheffield United likely to be their closest competitors, a win against another promotion favourite would be massive but the main aim has to be to extend their unbeaten run.

Leeds are in tremendous form as of late, and they must carry that momentum into this clash to give themselves the best chance of victory.

All eyes will be on Elland Road for what has the potential to be the biggest game of the season yet.
