Leeds United’s relegation chances predicted by supercomputer after winter window failure
With the transfer window now closed, Daniel Farke has to utilise what he has to steer Leeds to safety.
Leeds start February outside of the relegation zone, but almost none of that success is owed to the business done in the winter window, of which there was very little.
Facundo Buonanotte was the only first-team arrival at Elland Road, despite the Whites having been linked with a whole host of players across various areas of the squad.
The lack of business leaves Farke’s squad lacking in quality, with their relegation chances now revealed by Opta‘s supercomputer.

Where are Leeds predicted to finish in Premier League?
As things stand, the Whites sit six points above West Ham in the Premier League table, though the Hammers have shown some signs of improvement in recent weeks.
And despite the huge difference in recruitment between the two sides in the winter, Leeds are still predicted to widen that gap by the end of the campaign.
Farke’s side are anticipated to finish on 42 points in 17th, and currently have a 9.8 per cent chance of relegation heading into this weekend’s clash with Nottingham Forest.
| Premier League | Predicted finish | Points | Relegation chances |
| Nottingham Forest | 16th | 43 | 6.63% |
| Leeds United | 17th | 42 | 9.8% |
| West Ham | 18th | 34 | 82.78% |
| Burnley | 19th | 27 | 98.18% |
| Wolves | 20th | 20 | 99.9% |
Should that be the case, it would see the Whites finish eight points above the Irons, who are predicted to occupy the final relegation spot ahead of Burnley and Wolves, who both already look resigned to a drop down to the Championship.
Leeds’ survival hopes may hinge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin truth
Leeds failed to sign a new striker in the winter window, despite Lukas Nmecha being sidelined with an injury, and Joel Piroe seemingly not in Farke’s plans, given his omission throughout the campaign.
That in itself has piled an unreasonable amount of pressure on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score the goals to fire the Whites to safety.
However, rumours emerged on deadline day that Calvert-Lewin has suffered a thigh injury, and if true, that could reduce their chances of survival significantly.
Leeds face Nottingham Forest on Friday night, and fans will no doubt be eagerly anticipating his name on the teamsheet; otherwise, those relegation fears will be cranked up to a whole new level at Elland Road.
