Leeds United's Brenden Aaronson believes Jesse Marsch has taken him to the 'next level'
Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson believes Jesse Marsch has taken his game to the “next level” after completing his move to Elland Road
The Whites confirmed the signing of the American international for £25million on Thursday [26 May].
Aaronson has a total of ten goals and eleven assists this season with the American having the most productive campaign of his career to date.
The American has suggested his newfound attacking output is a result of working with Jesse Marsch at RB Salzburg.
As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post on Sunday [29 May], he said: “I think Jesse has taken my game to the next level by focussing on my football and getting me better in offensive positions and scoring more goals and assists.
“That’s where I felt I made my jump at Salzburg.”
Aaronson is the first indication of where Jesse Marsch wants to take his Leeds United side.
The American midfielder will have to adjust to the physicality of the Premier League, but if he can, he could be a superb addition.
Aaronson will pick up clever positions in between the midfield and defence and could provide a number of opportunities for Leeds’ wide players and strikers.
Furthermore, the addition of Aaronson demonstrates the way Marsch wants to play football.
The American will play fast, verticle and direct passes forward which is typically what Marsch wants his teams to do.
The pair clearly have an excellent relationship and Aaronson likes playing under Marsch.
If Raphinha was to depart the club this summer, it is good the Elland Road side have moved to add some attacking quality to their side already.
Now Marsch must focus on making the Whites more rigid defensively to avoid a repeat of the 79 goals they conceded as they narrowly avoided relegation on the final day.
In other Leeds United news, this player is considering his options at Elland Road despite only signing last year.
