Leeds United youngster Josh Galloway move to Manchester club confirmed mid-game

Leeds United starlet Josh Galloway had a whirlwind Tuesday (25 January) as he completed a loan move to FC United of Manchester and then played for the club that evening.

The 20-year-old wasn’t even signed long enough for the club to announce the deal until he was subbed on at half-time in their 4-3 defeat to Whitby Town in the Northern Premier Division.

Galloway was booked just two minutes after coming on following a collision with a Whitby player.

The Leeds youngster will be hoping to help FC United out of mid-table obscurity and towards the playoff places which are currently six points away from them.

Best place to be

Academy football is all well and good in getting players technical up to standard but you can’t just play academy football.

The physicality of men’s football is often a big shock to the up and coming stars of tomorrow and it can sometimes take time for them to get up to speed after they make their breakthrough.

For Galloway, a move down to non-league football is the perfect arena for him to toughen up somewhat and prove to Marcelo Bielsa he can hold his own against some of the most physical players in the country.

A yellow card after two minutes suggests he’ll have no problems at all with getting stuck in down at the seventh tier of the English football pyramid, as you’d expect from a Leeds United player.

Galloway was previously rejected by Barrow of League Two having been on trial at Holker Street but deemed not good enough by manager Mark Cooper.
