Leeds United will sign Championship stars as Elland Road ‘focus’ emerges

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson believes Leeds United will focus on assembling a Championship-quality squad during the summer transfer window.

The 49ers are now in charge and it remains to be seen just how much support Leeds’ new owners will provide during the off-season.

Robinson believes the “investment” will come and that there will be a “focus” on proven Championship players.

“As much as no one wants to play there – you need a squad that is capable of promotion. You look at Norwich’s business model, they go up with the same squad and down with the same squad,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“If you want to get out of the second tier you need a certain squad, if you want to stay in the Premier League you need to remould and rejuvenate that squad.

“The signings in the summer will focus on a Championship squad. There are a lot of very good players who have already got out of the Championship before.

“I think the investment will come in. It doesn’t need to be spent on big-money names. Good quality and proven Championship players are required.”

The board are yet to make a decision on a new manager with Carlos Corberan and Daniel Farke set for interviews next week.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
