Leeds United will now go for Andoni Iraola again as manager news drops
Leeds United will now look to revive their interest in Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola in their search for a new head coach, according to the Daily Mail. (pg 116, 11 February)
The Whites had turned their attention to Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, however, the head coach rejected a move as he pursues a historic treble with the Dutch outfit.
The report claims that Iraola has always been Sporting Director Victor Orta’s first choice to replace Jesse Marsch as the new Leeds United manager, with the search becoming a “farce”.

“Sportsmail understands the Whites are now trying to revive a move for Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola, despite that deal looking dead in the water on Wednesday,” as quoted by the Daily Mail. (pg 116, 11 February)
“Orta’s first choice has always been Iraola and he flew to Madrid to meet him on Tuesday. Iraola is contracted until the end of the season and has said he will see out his deal, but Leeds are ready to pay the £7million compensation needed to prise him away.”

Just get it done.
The search for a new Leeds United manager has already become way more painful than it needed to be and the incompetence of the board has been shocking.
It’s nice to see that the club had a shortlist of who they wanted to replace Marsch but it seems they had a little plan as to how to go about getting them in at Elland Road.
This is pretty apparent by the now numerous custard pies to the face Leeds United have faced something which is proving to be rather embarrassing.
If Iraola is Orta’s first choice then the club needs to do everything in its power to get him signed, sealed and over the line. He’s classy and fits the bill for the kind of tactician the Whites would want at their helm and securing his signature is the only thing that will make this ordeal look better.
Otherwise, fans face the prospect of a fifth-choice option coming in to steady the Elland Road ship until this Premier League season comes to an end.
