Leeds United will look for ‘different options’ before making move to sign striker - Tim Thornton

Sky Sports journalist Tim Thornton believes that Leeds United will look at “different options” to bolster their attacking unit this summer.

The Whites are in the market to sign players to strengthen the side in the final third and have been heavily linked with Charles De Ketelaere. However, the Belgium international is reportedly closing in on a move to AC Milan.

Thornton, while talking to Give Me Sport, suggested that Leeds will make a move to bring in a striker sooner than later but they will for different options rather than the expensive Arnaud Kalimuendo and Martin Terrier.

“They would probably be at the top end of the budget [Terrier and Kalimuendo],” Thornton told Give Me Sport. “I’m not saying they wouldn’t pay the money for those players, but they will look at different options.

“I don’t think they’ve sort of made a final decision in terms of who they’re going to bring in yet. But there could be movement sooner rather than later.”

With so many players coming in, Leeds will have a very new look when the next season will begin in a few weeks’ time.

This will be the first full season for Jesse Marsch, who came in mid of last season after the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa and therefore, it will be interesting to see how he will make his team play after a full pre-season.

One of the areas where Leeds struggled massively in the previous campaign was the attacking department where an injury to Patrick Bamford increased the workload on the likes of Raphinha and Jack Harrison.

While the Brazil international has left the club and he has been replaced by Luis Sinisterra, there is still a place for a striker in the squad who will not only be a backup of Bamford but if there is a need, he must be well-equipped to become a starter at the Elland Road in the months and years ahead.
