Leeds United will be 'desperate' to retain Tyler Adams in the summer as transfer battle awaits - journalist

Leeds United will be “desperate” to win any upcoming transfer battles for star midfielder Tyler Adams at the end of the season, according to Dean Jones.

The Whites talisman only signed for the club last summer, after completing a £20million switch from RB Leipzig, but has thoroughly impressed so far this season under the management of Jesse Marsch.

Adams captained the U.S. international team in Qatar at the World Cup and has recently been the centre of attention from Manchester United, with The Red Devils keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old. [Football Insider]

In an interview with GiveMeSport, ex-EuroSport journalist Jones admitted that the Leeds midfielder will have plenty of potential suitors in the summer and that Marsch will be “desperate” to retain his services.

He said: “He’s going to be a massive player in the game and someone we talk about in really high regard over the next five years.

“I think by the end of this season, Leeds might be in a bit of a fight to keep hold of him, but they’ll be desperate to win that fight.”

Pivotal

Any future success that Leeds United hope for in the coming years will likely revolve around the actions of Adams in the upcoming summer transfer window.

After a stunning World Cup campaign, many of Europe’s biggest clubs will surely keep a close eye on the American during the second half of the season before entering a transfer auction for the Leeds star.

However, considering he is still only 23 years old and penned a deal at Elland Road until the summer of 2027, you would hope the youngster stays faithful to the club and remains in Yorkshire for longer than a solitary season.

A combative and diligent midfielder, Adams has all the traits to be a cracking player, and it is therefore no surprise to hear the likes of Manchester United linked with him.

For United, the Whites star could be a long-term successor to Casemiro in the heart of their midfield, but considering the Brazilian’s recent form, they may hold out on bidding for Adams till the summer of 2024.
