Leeds want to sign Orkun Kökcü in summer, valued at £10.3m – report

Leeds United are wanting to sign Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kökcü in the summer, according to La Razon.

The Spanish outlet has claimed that the Whites are joined by Sevilla and Leicester City in pursuing the Turkish talent, who is now available for £10.3million.

The 20-year-old has a contract until 2025 in Holland but has made it clear that the Eredivisie outfit could allow him to leave early.

Speaking to the media previously, Kökcü admitted that he could be allowed to leave on the cheap in the middle of their financial crisis.

“I have a contract until 2025 but the situation has changed,” he has said.

“The club has been very clear about the financial situation and it is clear that it is not good, so if a club comes with a good proposal for me and the entity can enter a good amount, I imagine that it will be listened to.”

Midfield is vital.

The Whites are desperate for fresh options in midfield, and Kokcu could be a massive bargain over the summer.

Leicester have made a reputation for themselves by signing European midfielders such as Youri Tielemans in the past on the cheap and increasing their value, and Kokcu could be the next on the production line.

The 20-year-old can play in central midfield, the Phillips role and even on the left-hand side if needed, and that versatility is key in any Marcelo Bielsa side.

Mateusz Klich has struggled massively in the second half of this season, and our lack of options to replace him is killing us.

Kokcu is better offensively than the Polish international too, averaging more shots on goal and key passes per game according to WhoScored; as well as double the number of dribbles.

Bielsa is crying out for more options, and the Whites must beat Leicester to this deal.
