Leeds United want to sign Marseille striker Bamba Dieng
Leeds United are among several Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, according to 90min.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a good season in front of goal in 2021-22 with seven goals while he was asked to play on the wings more than through the middle where he is at his best.
But during pre-season, the Senegalese international has played very few minutes for the Ligue 1 club after joining them in 2020 from the Diambars Academy in his native country.
As a result, the ‘new Sadio Mane’ – as he is known in Senegal – is now ready to leave the Velodrome and Leeds United want to be the first club at his door when the time comes but they face a big challenge.
Clubs in Germany and Spain are keen but the interest of Newcastle, West Ham, Everton, Wolves and Crystal Palace will be the biggest hurdle to overcome for Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch.

If it comes down to a Premier League free for all to sign Dieng, then you would have to back Leeds United all the way after the no-nonsense business already done at Elland Road this summer.
Orta wasted no time in bringing any of his additions to the club this summer and with such a long list of teams keen on Dieng, the same approach would have to be taken.
Marsch knows that a striker is high on the agenda despite Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo starring in a recent friendly against Cagliari and this could be the one after the failed pursuit of Charles De Ketelaere.
But Bamford cannot be trusted to be fit for the duration of the campaign and the American would really like not to have to rely on youngsters Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood again this time around.
After a rapid start to the window, an equally frantic end may well be the case for the Whites.
In other Leeds United news, this Championship side are trying to sign one of Marsch’s lesser-used players having previously played for their arch-rivals.
