Leeds United want to sign Junior Firpo from Barcelona – report

Leeds United want to sign Barcelona defender Junior Firpo this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo on Saturday.

The Spanish outlet has reported on their website that the Whites have joined the race with other Premier League clubs for the Dominican-born star.

It is suggested that Firpo is open to a move to Elland Road with Marcelo Bielsa once again working his magic.

West Ham and Southampton have both been linked with moves for the left-back, with offers also from Celta Vigo.

The agents of Firpo have informed the player of Leeds’ interest, and it appears as though they could be among the front-runners.

Should Bielsa not want to take a risk on the 24-year-old, it is suggested that the Spanish giants would accept an initial loan move with an option to buy.

One in, one out.

Ezgjan Alioski is another player looking all-but-set to leave Elland Road, following the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi.

The Macedonian will be out of contract at the end of the week, and as each day passes without news, it looks more likely he will be gone.

That will leave the Whites with no senior left-back on the books, and it could lead to two, never mind only one signing.

Firpo only made 17 appearances across all competitions last season, with nine of those coming from the bench.

Based on those numbers, it could take some serious work over the summer for him to get up to Bielsa’s standards, so this deal may need to be completed quickly.
