Leeds United want to sign Josh Tymon, will only move in exceptional turn of events

Leeds United will only sign Stoke City left-back Josh Tymon in the event of an “exceptional” turn, according to Stoke on Trent Live.

The Daily Mail first reported the Whites’ interest in a deal on Thursday [07 July], with Victor Orta already confirming six signings so far this summer.

Tymon is expected to stay with Stoke this summer and is seen as a Premier League player in the making at the Championship club.

The supposed price tag of £6million is also said to be wide of the mark so far, with that suggesting that any interested clubs may need to hit eight-figures.

Stoke are currently in Ireland as they prepare for the new Championship season, with Tymon expected to be in the squad for that opening game.

Financial Fair Play rules are said to be tight at the Bet 365 Stadium, so should a sale be needed, it looks as though there could be clubs lining up for Tymon.

Faith.

If Leeds do not bring in a new left-back this summer, it will be a huge vote of confidence for Junior Firpo.

The Spaniard started pre-season in phenomenal fashion on Thursday evening [07 July], grabbing an assist and even a goal for himself in the 4-0 win over Blackpool in York.

Jetting out to Australia, Firpo will be determined more than ever to prove himself in the Premier League, and after getting a year under his belt, he should be prepared for that.

Spending more than £6million on someone like Tymon may not make much sense given he wouldn’t exactly come in as first-choice at Elland Road, and more of a rotation option.

It certainly is a position of concern at this moment in time though, with Stuart Dallas out injured long-term and our only other options being more central in the shape of Pascal Struijk.

This is one to watch in the future, but it is highly unlikely to be this summer.
