Leeds United want to sign Jayson Molumby as West Brom exit news emerges

Leeds United want to sign West Brom midfielder Jayson Molumby, with the Baggies ace available this summer, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Molumby made 43 league appearances for the Albion this season, registering four goals and four assists as the club finished ninth in the Championship.

The 23-year-old, who joined the club from Brighton on an initial loan deal before a permanent move, has 20 caps for the Republic of Ireland national team.

“Leeds United are keen on West Brom’s Republic of Ireland midfield enforcer Jayson Molumby,” Nixon wrote on Patreon.

“The Elland Road club are looking to recruit proven players to toughen up their team and Molumby is available at the right price.”

Birmingham Live (2 January) labelled the Albion ace “magnificent” after a victory against Reading last season.

Win-win

This move would represent a win-win for all parties involved, with Leeds getting a talented midfielder who can help them push for promotion to the Premier League next season.

The Whites were massively let down by a lack of fight from various senior players last time out, and Molumby could come in and really stamp his authority in midfield after an impressive campaign with the Baggies.

He has also been enjoying a strong run in the Republic of Ireland midfield, with Molumby now one of the first players on manager Stephen Kenny’s teamsheet.

The player meanwhile would be moving to a club who are seemingly in a better position to be promoted than West Brom, while there would more than likely be the added bonus of a better deal financially at Elland Road.

Molumby is just 23, but he knows the Championship well and can undoubtedly develop his game further at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, Tottenham are in talks to sign one Whites player that Victor Orta admitted is too good for the Championship.
