Leeds United want to sign FC Koln defender Timo Hubers – report

Leeds United want to sign FC Koln defender Timo Hubers in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the German looks set to be available for only £6million.

Numerous Premier League clubs are said to be in the race, with Newcastle and West Ham also plotting their own moves.

Hubers is set to enter the final year of his contract in the summer, with a move to the Premier League looking likely.

Southampton and likely Championship winners Fulham are also mentioned as possible destinations.

Leeds have shipped the most goals in the Premier League this season in what has been a major problem, so Jesse Marsch may look to sure up his backline.

The 25-year-old is described as a ball-playing defender, perfect for the system of the Whites at Elland Road.

Unlikely.

Even at what looks like a bargain price of only £6million, this looks unlikely.

Looking at our current options at the back, we have three internationals in Liam Cooper, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente.

On top of them, Pascal Struijk and Charlie Cresswell are the clear next generation of talents beyond that trio.

Marsch has been complimentary towards all of those options, so his priority may lay elsewhere with Victor Orta going into the summer.

Of course, there is always the possibility that any of those players could move on in the summer with a change in manager.

Marsch will get a good look at all five of those between now and the end of the season, and should they not impress, they may find themselves gone.

Time will certainly tell.
