Leeds United want to hire Carlos Corberan as ‘big’ Daniel Farke exit development emerges

Leeds United are “keeping tabs” on West Brom manager Carlos Corberan, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Sunday (22 September, page 72) that although Corberan’s contract at The Hawthorns runs until 2027, there are “suggestions” that he has a £2million release clause.

It is understood that Daniel Farke is under “big pressure” to win promotion to the Premier League this season and Corberan’s previous stint at Elland Road as Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant has led to him being “highly regarded” in West Yorkshire.

Bielsa once went to watch Corberan manage Huddersfield in the Championship after he left the Whites.

Leeds United in hunt for high-flying West Brom manager Carlos Corberan

Leeds won’t be hitting the panic button any time soon because it’s still only September and the Whites aren’t doing so bad that they need to get rid of Farke and land a new manager.

Saturday’s 2-0 win over Cardiff sees Leeds sit sixth in the Championship standings with 11 points with their only defeat in their last five league games coming against fellow promotion favourites Burnley.

West Brom, on the other hand, are flying high at the top of the league with their 1-0 win over Plymouth on Saturday taking them back to first place.

Albion are undefeated and have conceded just two goals in their opening six games with Josh Maja leading the scoring charts with six goals in as many appearances.

It would be an understatement to say that Corberan’s work at The Hawthorns has been impressive, especially because of the financial restraints he’s had to work with in the summer, losing players like last season’s player of the year Cedric Kipre and Turkey midfielder Okay Yokuslu.

You’d have to question Leeds if they weren’t looking at him but Farke’s not doing a terrible job right now.
