Leeds United want Joel Piroe transfer with Premier League back up ready – Phil Hay

Leeds United are one of many clubs who want to sign Swansea City striker Joel Piroe this summer, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist has shared many targets that are lined up at Elland Road after the announcement of Daniel Farke as their new manager.

Nottingham Forest talisman Sam Surridge has already been earmarked as a back-up option as the Whites clearly target another number nine.

Patrick Bamford is one of few players who are yet to be linked with an exit following relegation, with the Whites also said to be happy to retain Rodrigo.

The club also has no plans to part ways with club-record signing Georginio Rutter, although he is set as more of a wide man by the new management team.

Piroe did fire in 20 goals in the Championship and FA Cup last season, and has proved that he can find the back of the net with ease at this level, scoring 22 the year before.

Priority.

Piroe is a goal machine, and his only target in games is to put himself into positions where he can easily find the back of the net, something he does brilliantly.

Bamford has come under scrutiny at Elland Road, and the pressure has seen him lose that edge, with his best work now done with his back to goal, not infront of it.

Farke held talks over transfers with Nick Hammond and the 49ers Enterprises before signing on the dotted line, and he will have clearly been happy with what he heard.

With big-money wages already being freed up through the imminent loan exits of Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Brenden Aaronson, Leeds will have cash to use.

More players will be expected to leave, for actual fees too, meaning that the bank of Leeds will be busy over the next month or two, before and after the Championship season starts.

Piroe would be a sensational piece of business, make him a priority now.
