Sky Sports pundit blown away by ‘unbelievable’ Jaidon Anthony moment in Leeds United vs Plymouth Argyle FA Cup tie

Michael Dawson hailed Jaidon Anthony for his “unbelievable” goal to put Leeds United ahead in their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Plymouth Argyle.

Anthony got between a few defenders from out on the left, created some space for himself and fired the ball past Conor Hazard.

The Bournemouth loanee celebrated the strike by taking off shirt and showing a message paying tribute to his mother, who recently passed away.

“It’s an unbelievable goal, Dawson said on Sky Sports News, as shared via Twitter [27 January].

“He gets down the left-hand side, you think he’s going to cross but he chops in sends it in off the far post. It’s an absolutely magnificent goal.”

Emotional moment

You could see the emotion all over Anthony’s face the moment the ball hit the net. It has been an incredibly difficult period for the winger following the passing of his mother.

Incredibly – and this says a lot about his character – he was part of the squad against Preston North End just a couple of days on from that horrible news.

Anthony is a hard-working player and it is great to see his efforts rewarded with this well-taken strike against Plymouth on Saturday (27 January).

That was the 24-year-old’s second goal in 25 appearances for the Whites – the other coming in a 3-0 league win over Watford in October.

With Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville absent against Plymouth, this was always going to be Anthony’s time to shine. And having got on the scoresheet in the first half, he has done all that he can.

Daniel Farke will be after more of the same to help provide some more competition to what is already the best attack anywhere in the division.

In other Leeds United news, Graham Smyth has shared why Crysencio Summerville was not part of the squad to face Plymouth.
