Leeds United: Video footage emerges of what Ethan Ampadu did in controversy v Huddersfield
Video footage has emerged of Ethan Ampadu having words with Huddersfield Town captain Jonathan Hogg after he was sent off against Leeds United on Saturday (2 March).
In a video posted on Twitter on Saturday, the Welsh international appeared to tell the Terriers midfielder to get off the pitch after receiving a second yellow card for an elbow on Junior Firpo in the first half.
The contentious decision saw the hosts, who were leading 1-0 at the time, reduced to 10 men before a second-half Patrick Bamford goal earned the Whites a point at The John Smith’s Stadium.
Huddersfield red card let Leeds United back in
There was some disappointment amongst those associated with Huddersfield that Hogg received his marching orders, but it was a clear elbow by the midfielder on Firpo.
It came at a crucial point for the Terriers as that left them with just 10 men and without their captain on the field as they look to pull themselves away from the relegation zone.
It’s not completely clear what Ampadu said to Hogg, but it does look as though he may have told him to get off the field in a slightly less polite fashion.
There is obviously a chance the Whites would have got back into the game in the second half anyway, but the decision no doubt helped their cause in earning a point in the West Yorkshire derby.
Daniel Farke will be disappointed that his side didn’t take more advantage of the situation after the break as they didn’t do enough to claim all three points
