Leeds United verbally agree to hire Jesse Marsch as new manager – Fabrizio Romano
Leeds United have a verbal agreement in place to hire Jesse Marsch as their new manager, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Marcelo Bielsa was relieved of his duties at Elland Road on Sunday, less than 24 hours after they were beaten 4-0 at home by Tottenham.
Writing via his personal Twitter account minutes after Leeds’ announcement that Bielsa has left, Guardian journalist Romano reported that the “final details” for Marsch’s appointment will be sorted out “in the coming hours”.
Romano added in his tweet that the American manager’s work permit will be among the final issues Leeds will resolve before announcing him in charge.
Risky
Why have they sacked him?
Marsch is not a manager we know too much about but other than some success in MLS and in the Austrian Bundesliga, he’s not done a lot.
He was sacked by RB Leipzig in December after just a few months in charge there and doesn’t have anywhere near the profile and calibre that Bielsa did prior to his arrival.
Leeds won’t have rushed this, mind.

Every year there’s the worry that Bielsa is leaving so Victor Orta will have been sounding out possible replacements for a while.
Marsch is someone who he’ll know well, which is why such a quickfire move has been made for the ex-USA player.
But to take charge of this finely-tuned squad midway through a season is going to be challenging to say the least – especially when key players are injured.
In other Leeds United news, David Seaman is furious with what he’s heard coming from Elland Road in regards to Bielsa.
