Leeds United v Stoke City result predicted by supercomputer

Leeds United boosted their path towards promotion with a 1-0 victory against Oxford United on Good Friday.

Daniel Farke’s men are now in an excellent position where automatic promotion to the Premier League could be guaranteed against Stoke City on Easter Monday.

With Sheffield United facing Burnley on the same day, it is set to be a massive afternoon at the top of the Championship.

Leeds set to continue on the right track

Farke’s men may have faced a recent dip in form, but the boss rectified things at the right time and the Whites are back firing at the top of the table.

Leeds go into this game with three wins from their last three, with Manor Solomon providing the only goal of the game against Oxford.

Stoke are unbeaten in their last five games and will not be easy opponents to get past.

However, sitting seven points clear of the relegation zone, the Potters probably feel fairly calm about their chances of being a Championship side next term.

With Leeds’ current momentum and given how much is riding on the tie, it comes as no surprise that the Opta Supercomputer is heavily backing the Whites to win the clash with a 70.6 per cent chance of victory.

A sharing of the points is the second most likely outcome at 16.7 per cent, while Stoke are only backed with a 12.7 per cent chance of victory.

Leeds look towards the Premier League

Those at Elland Road may have started to get a little nervous that previous history was going to repeat itself and resign the Whites to a play-off campaign, but the squad have turned things around to get back to a strong place.

Automatic promotion is the aim, but once secured, Leeds will be eager to end their season on a high and claim the spot as Champions too.

While celebrations in West Yorkshire will be plenty, the hierarchy will no doubt be ready to put all the attention onto next season in the knowledge that this is only the first step of what’s to come at Leeds.

The Premier League is not an easy place for newly promoted sides, as has been proved again this season, and Leeds have experienced the toughness that lies ahead.

However, the 49ers are keen to build a long-term successful future at Elland Road and that will ensure safety in the top flight, before building on that and becoming an established side.

It’s all to be taken one step at a time, though, and Leeds are certainly in the place they would want to be.
