Leeds United v Norwich City postponement update amid Met Office weather warning
Leeds United and Norwich City’s clash at Elland Road is expected to go ahead with no issues despite a new Met Office weather warning.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s (22 January) Championship contest, the Met Office have issued an amber warning for mist in parts of West Yorkshire.
The Leeds city region, however, is only met with a yellow mist warning despite visibility being still expected to be poor, meaning the match is not at immediate risk of being postponed.
Leeds United look to repeat last season’s heroics v Norwich
Having come up against one another in the Championship play-offs last term, the Whites and Norwich faced off four times, including almost exactly a year to the day at Elland Road last January.
Patrick Bamford’s header was enough to seal a 1-0 win for United on 22 January 2024, and while he won’t feature due to injury this time around, there’s still plenty of firepower in Daniel Farke’s frontline.

That firepower was on full display in May’s play-off semi-final second leg; the Peacocks putting Norwich to the sword in a 4-0 hammering which saw them march on to an unsuccessful Wembley trip in style.
Though goalscorers Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville have since been sold, Ilia Gruev and Joel Piroe remain in LS11, and both could start as Farke’s side aim to return to the Championship summit.
Last January’s regular-season win came during a record-equalling nine-game winning run, and whatever the weather at Elland Road, United want to kick-start another streak which takes them clear at the top.
In other Leeds news, the Whites could earn a small transfer windfall if one ex-player completes a £7million move.
