Leeds United: David Prutton predicts score for game v Millwall at Elland Road, ‘incredible’
David Prutton has predicted Leeds United will beat Millwall and climb above Leicester City in an “incredible” feat.
Leeds have the chance to move to the summit should they beat Millwall by a couple of goals at Elland Road on Sunday (17 March).
It would mark quite the achievement for the Whites, who were 17 points behind Leicester heading into the new year.
Predicting a 2-1 home victory in his Sky Sports column [14 March], Prutton said: “Leeds United can go top of the Championship table here, which is incredible when you consider how much they’ve closed the gap on Leicester – who are in FA Cup action this weekend. A win by two or more goals sends them to the summit.
“But they are up against a Millwall side who are resurgent under Neil Harris, having picked up 10 points from a possible 12. This is always a feisty fixture, and I reckon it will be close. But Leeds should have enough.”
Millwall in good form ahead of Leeds United trip
Leeds had no real intention of ever catching Leicester City at the turn of the year. Instead, the aim was to simply stay in touch of second place.
As a reminder, after the 1-0 loss to West Brom on 29 December, United were fourth in the table and nine points off Ipswich Town in second.
After a near enough faultless start to 2024, though, they now have the chance to go top of the pile this weekend.
If those inside Elland Road were not already fired up for the game, the visit of rivals Millwall will only ramp the atmosphere up a notch or two.

Millwall have themselves been in very good form of late under Neil Harris, in fairness, having won three and drawn one of their past four games.
That means they cannot be taken lightly, but at the same time, Leeds have showed in 2024 that they are capable of beating all comers.
Keep up that run this weekend and automatic promotion will be another step closer.
