Leeds United: Daniel Farke ‘furious’ with Georginio Rutter v Millwall as details emerge
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke reacted furiously to Georginio Rutter failing to pick out Archie Gray with a pass against Millwall, according to Graham Smyth.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reporter shared the unseen moment from Elland Road in an article for the publication’s online edition on Monday (18 March).
Leeds went on to win the match 2-0 thanks to goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Daniel James as they leapfrogged Leicester City at the top of the Championship.
Smyth wrote in his unseen moments article: “Farke giving [Junior] Firpo a thumbs up after a run in behind on the left that Ilia Gruev failed to spot, leaving the left-back frustrated. Farke’s furious reaction to Rutter not finding Gray’s run.”
Georginio Rutter helping drive Leeds United promotion push
Rutter may have failed to spot Gray’s run on this occasion, but the Frenchman otherwise had another strong display in a Leeds shirt.
Indeed, he assisted the goals for both Gnonto and James to take his assists tally for the season to 15 in 37 appearances, on top of his six goals.
As per Opta’s Jonny Cooper, Rutter’s seven assists from open play since the start of February is the most of any player in England’s top four tiers.

Rutter is clearly doing something right, and his ability to find a pass cannot be questioned, yet there is no harm in Farke demanding perfection.
It is those high levels that have seen Leeds overtake Leicester and now put themselves in a very strong position for automatic promotion.
And should the Whites see the job through and return to the Premier League, Rutter – who has withdrawn from international duty – would have played as big a role as anyone.
