Leeds United v Coventry: Daniel Farke to make axe decision on Dan James after Sunderland stinker this week

Daniel Farke will not have been pleased with the performance of Dan James in the Leeds United v Sunderland game on 12 December.

The Wales international started on the right wing and was relatively anonymous for most of the game as his side lost 1-0.

With Wilfried Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony being quality options to bring into the team, there could be a change made ahead of the Coventry clash on Saturday, 16 December.

According to Sofascore, James struggled with a mere 11 passes completed, a zero per cent accuracy in crossing given his failure to complete any of his three crosses and no attempted shots, indicating a lack of impact in the attacking third.

Losing 60 per cent of ground duels and 50 per cent of aerial duels highlights issues with physicality and contesting for possession.

Additionally, the winger lost possession eight times and was dribbled past twice, suggesting defensive vulnerabilities.

Given these statistics, the 26-year-old’s performance raises concerns about his contribution to both offensive and defensive aspects of the game.

To enhance the team’s overall effectiveness and address these performance issues, Farke might find it necessary to explore alternative options for the upcoming clash against Coventry.

Gnonto and Anthony both came off the bench against Sunderland and showcased glimpses of being better fits in that role and to recover from a defeat, Farke needs to shake things up ever so slightly.

In other Leeds United news, a surgery diagnosis has been shared on a first-team player now set to be out of action for a number of weeks.
