Leeds United v Chelsea FA Cup scoreline predicted by Chris Sutton, ‘unfortunate’ claim made
Leeds United are going “very well” under Daniel Farke, but they will not come out on top against Chelsea.
That is according to Chris Sutton, who has predicted the Blues to win the FA Cup clash between the two clubs on Wednesday (28 February).
Stamford Bridge plays host to the fifth round encounter, with Sutton predicting a 2-0 win for the Premier League club.
“Chelsea really need to win this, after the way they lost the Carabao Cup final on Sunday,” Sutton told BBC Sport. “It was their display in extra-time that let them down against Liverpool’s kids, when they had the chance to really have a go at them.
“Leeds are going very well under Farke but he might prioritise their promotion bid over this tie. I hope he doesn’t, but this is one of the rare occasions where I would understand if he makes some changes, because of how tight it is at the top of the Championship – they have got Ipswich and Southampton breathing down their necks, but will also feel like they can catch Leicester.
“It is really unfortunate, because otherwise Leeds could have a real go at this. The pressure is all on Chelsea and, if they don’t win, it is really going to mount on their manager Mauricio Pochettino.
“I remember being part of a Chelsea team that lost 2-0 to Leeds at Stamford Bridge in the year I was there – thinking back, it was probably largely down to me. I’m going with the same scoreline again, but a home win this time.”
Will Leeds United pull off Stamford Bridge shock v Chelsea?
The Whites are flying high under Farke, and are looking very promising in their push to get back into the Premier League.
The Elland Road club are picking up win after win, having initially been struggling to get over the line in Farke’s early stages at the club.
It means they will be full of confidence going into the meeting with Chelsea, but the Premier League giants represent a whole other level than what the Whites are used to dealing with.
Even with the struggles at Stamford Bridge this season, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be very difficult to overcome.
It is certainly an interesting time to take on the London giants, who have just been defeated by Liverpool in the EFL Cup final.

That loss could go one of two ways for Leeds, with Chelsea either extremely hurt, low on confidence and vulnerable, or more than up for an immediate chance to get back to winning ways.
