Leeds United urged to sell Junior Firpo by Sky Sports pundit as Fabrizio Romano update drops

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has urged Leeds United to sell Junior Firpo during the summer window and has insisted he’s not good enough for the Championship.

The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano shared (via Twitter, 7 June) that the 26-year-old will leave this summer with a number of European clubs interested.

Robinson agrees and has claimed he would be quite happy to see him depart during the summer window after a disappointing 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

“He’s not the type of player you want in the Premier League either,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He’s been really poor since he came to Leeds. He’s been one of Victor Orta’s poorest signings.

“He started off reasonably well. Going forward he looked okay but defensively he’s been culpable for many goals. He’s been really poor. I don’t think he’s settled into English football well enough.

“He hasn’t enjoyed the Premier League and he will find the Championship far too difficult. In all honesty, if Leeds were in the Premier League or Championship, I would be quite happy to move him on this summer.”

The former Barcelona man is contracted to Leeds until the summer of 2025 and made 19 Premier League appearances during the 2022/23 season.
