Leeds United unlikely to move for Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White

Leeds United are unlikely to move for Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Graham Smyth.

Earlier this week, The Atheltic reported that the Whites are interested in signing the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who is valued at around £20million.

Southampton and Nottingham Forest are also said to be equally keen to land him.

Smyth suggests that Victor Orta is a keen admirer of the player, but after signing Brenden Aaronson, the club will focus on bringing in another defensive midfielder instead.

Smart decision

At the moment, it seems like the Whites feel that Aaronson ticks the attacking box and that no new signing on that front is required.

However, the situation can change drastically if either Raphinha or Jack Harisson leave the club in the summer.

In such a scenario, Leeds could be forced to bring in another attacking player.

Morgan-Gibbs was outstanding last season on loan at Sheffield United, where he scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists for the Championship side.

He has been offered a new deal at Wolves but he is taking time to assess other options.

Signing a defensive midfielder is vital for Leeds. The club must actively look to bring someone to add competition in midfield, with Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O’Brien being reportedly targeted [TeamTalk].

Jesse Marsch is taking a different approach from Marcelo Bielsa in the transfer market. While the Argentine was happy with a small squad, Marsch seems to focus on getting more bodies.

Bielsa failed to sign a midfielder during his time at Leeds, but Marsch must not make the same mistake.

In other Leeds United news, this player is considering his options at Elland Road despite only signing last year.
