Leeds United: Tyler Adams stuns BBC pundit in ‘brilliant’ USA move at World Cup
The United States of America surged into the World Cup knockout stages thanks to the influence of Leeds United ace Tyler Adams.
The 23-year-old is now captain of his country having taken the armband from Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic and he is rewarding Gregg Berhalter with a succession of outstanding performances.
As the USA beat Iran in the final group game, Adams was at the centre of everything excellent for the stars and stripes and was a key part of a move that nearly saw them double the lead in Qatar.
Danny Murphy was left stunned by the Leeds United star as he couldn’t hide his admiration for him live on air.
“Brilliant move from USA, stunning play from Adams in the middle of the pitch and then the front two tried to combine there,” Murphy said on BBC commentary. “It’s unlucky, clever little combination. Maybe Weah could have hit it but it’s really well read from Hosseini.”
Undroppable
To any Leeds United fan, Adams’ superb form at the World Cup will come as no surprise because he has already set himself some incredibly high standards at Elland Road this season.
A never-ending engine and the deft touch of a classy midfielder makes him the perfect box-to-box player for any team and it should come as no surprise to see him finally getting the wider appreciation he deserves.
It might not be ideal for Jesse Marsch who would ideally like his star man to remain understated ahead of the January transfer window but he can’t hide his brilliance.
With every man of the match performance he puts in, more and more scouts will be watching his every move on the pitch and the price tag for his sale may well be rising day by day as a result.
Marsch cannot drop the 23-year-old right now even if a prime Zinedine Zidane dropped into his squad because nobody can match his energy and passion for the game.
