Leeds United trio Illan Meslier, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra named among best in position by CIES

Leeds trio Illan Meslier, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra have been named among the best under-25 players in their positions by CIES in a new study.

A study by the CIES observatory took a look at the top ten under 25 players across the world in specific player profiles and positions, and the Whites trio were listed among the best for their roles.

Illan Meslier (goalkeeper), Tyler Adams (filter man playmaker), Luis Sinisterra (allrounder target man) each made it into their respective lists in the top ten, showing just how strong the Leeds squad is currently.

Meslier ranks at number five behind Aaron Ramsdale, Gregor Kobel, Diogo Costa and Gianluigi Donnarumma, while Adams ranks behind Vitinha, Manuel Locatelli, Declan Rice and Maxime Lopez in his role which is analysed based on recovery and distribution.

Sinisterra is a slightly more surprising entry behind Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Nicolas Gonzalez and Igor Gomes for a position analysed based on shooting, air attack, chance creation, take ons and distribution.

Talent

Leeds’ transfer strategy in recent seasons has been really simple. Sign top talent at a young age for a relatively low price, play them and develop them and then sell them at a high price.

At the end of the day though, they have managed to get up to the Premier League from doing this and are now established and stronger than they’ve been for the best part of 20 years.

Meslier has established himself as one of the best young goalkeepers in the world and is considered a star at Elland Road these days, while the club have received interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham.

As for Adams and Sinisterra, they were largely brought in as replacements for Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha this summer and have already established themselves as key members of Jesse Marsch’s squad.

The club know they have got great players and will be pushing for a top half finish this season, showing the talent they have.

In other Leeds news, one Leeds star is set to be worth at least £40m for next summer
