Leeds United transfers news: Deal agreed to sign striker Lewis Pirie amid Celtic and Crystal Palace links

Leeds United have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign Aberdeen youngster Lewis Pirie this summer after beating Celtic and Crystal Palace to his signing.

According to LUFC Youth, a reliable source on all things related to the club’s academy, the 16-year-old will be moving to Elland Road.

Daily Record on 1 July reported that Celtic, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United were all keen on securing his services.

Via Twitter, LUFC Youth wrote, “LUFC have agreed a deal to sign Scotland Under-16s attacker Lewis Pirie from Aberdeen.”

Good move

Pirie is a young striker and a man in demand so there are no surprises why so many clubs are keen on signing him.

Leeds have been quality with their youth recruitment in the past and Thorp Arch has proven to be a good breeding ground.

A number of young players have been promoted to the senior side in the past and it all depends on who the new manager is.

Marcelo Bielsa did his bit to promote youth as he was forced into it but he also helped improve players and give them confidence.

Daniel Farke appears to be next in line and he’s also worked well with certain youngsters at Norwich so the aim will be to do the same at Elland Road.

It remains to be seen how Pirie does as the likes of Sonny Perkins have found it tough to make the step up to the first team.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
