Leeds United transfer update emerges as Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz signing on the cards

Leeds United reportedly have a small window to secure the services of Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz in January.

According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, the Whites are keen on signing the Chile international whose contract expires at the end of the season.

At this point in time, any transfer fee could tempt the Lancashire outfit into selling him as they do not want to lose him on a free transfer.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jacobs said, “There is a small window of opportunity mid-season just because of the contract situation.

“Any fee could tempt Blackburn. It’s a very intriguing situation because if they lose him on a free, they’ll be very disappointed. But if they take money mid-season and then it impacts their push for promotion, that also is a very risky strategy.”

Sign him up

Leeds do not have all the money in the world so signing a proven striker who can get them goals on the regular would be a good move.

He has been impressing most if not all Championship viewers over the last 18 months, including Football League World’s George Harbey who’s labelled him as “magnificent”.

He has been on the club’s radar for a while now and this window is the chance for them to sign him before he becomes a free agent and clubs from everywhere will consider signing him.

Not only can Brereton Diaz play as a number nine, but also out wide, which will make the Leeds front line more fluid than it already is.

Hopefully, Victor Orta gets in touch with his representatives as soon as possible as there’s going to be solid demand for his services in January.

Not signing a new striker will be a disaster in this window and it’s not something Leeds can afford to do if they want to avoid a relegation battle.
