Leeds United transfer plans update shared after Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter injuries

Leeds United strikers Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter are “doubtful” for the first Championship match of the season, according to journalist Graham Smyth.

The journalist shared via his personal Twitter account that Daniel Farke is not certain of how long they will be out for after getting injured in the pre-season clash against Hearts on Sunday (30 July).

Smyth added that he is uncertain whether the injuries to the attacking duo will impact the club’s summer transfer plans.

“Bamford (hamstring) and Rutter (core muscle injury) now doubtful for Cardiff but Farke not yet certain of timescale,” Smyth wrote on Twitter.

“Not prepared to say it’ll change their transfer plans though.”

Massive setback

New Leeds manager Farke has already lost several senior players this summer, with the likes of Robin Koch, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Brenden Aaronson all leaving the club on loan.

Star striker Rodrigo meanwhile has left Elland Road permanently, leaving the Whites very light in the attacking department.

But that area has been made so much worse amid the injuries to Bamford and Rutter, with the duo having perhaps been expected to play a key role under Farke in the club’s search for immediate promotion back to the top flight.

The pair are now set to miss the opening match against Cardiff, denting Farke’s chances of getting off to a flying start.

It’s a real setback for Leeds and their new boss, who may now have to find some funds to bring in a new attacker before the season gets underway.

But proceedings get underway on 6 August, meaning the German really doesn’t have much time at all to get a deal for a new forward sorted.

In other Leeds United news, Sam Allardyce has shared what must “change dramatically” for the Whites to be promoted next season.
