Leeds United transfer news: Willy Gnonto release clause update emerges amid Manchester City and Arsenal links
Leeds United are reportedly facing a battle on their hands to keep the Manchester City and Arsenal-linked Willy Gnonto at the club.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post [29 June], the Whites will not be bound by any release clause when it comes to the Italy international in negotiations to keep him at Elland Road.
Calciomercato reported on 30 May that both Arsenal and Manchester City were keen on signing the 19-year-old this summer.
Keep him
There’s no good reason to fathom why the new manager would not want to keep Gnonto at Elland Road beyond the summer.
He showed glimpses of his brilliance in the Premier League and in the Championship, he can kill it in every single game.
He’s got that raw ability and directness about him that makes him a threat to even the best full-backs in the top flight.
His close control is second to none and once he works on his decision making, he will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with.
After just one season at Leeds, it remains to be seen if he himself would want to seek a permanent exit from the club.
In the Championship, he will most probably start every game and put himself back in contention to become a regular for the Italy team too.
In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
