Leeds United transfer news: ‘Numerous’ clubs queue up to sign Luis Sinisterra as Whites head into Tuesday exit talks

Luis Sinisterra has “numerous clubs to choose from” for a move and “no longer wishes to play” for Leeds United, according to 1908.

The Dutch outlet reported on their website Tuesday (15 August) that the Whites hierarchy was set for talks with Feyenoord’s “in the coming” hours over a deal, with the Eredivisie side wanting a loan while Leeds “wishes to sell him”.

Budesliga and La Liga clubs are reportedly also in the running for the Colombian winger, while it is unclear whether Feyenoord would be able to cover his wages if they brought him back a year after selling him, but a possible deal is deemed “alive and kicking”.

Sinisterra is currently training alone, as is Willy Gnonto, with both the attacking stars having held themselves out of the squad to face Birmingham City on Saturday (12 August).

Leeds United have one more international loan exit permitted this summer according to FIFA rules [Leeds Live], with Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, Diego Llorente, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen and Robin Koch filling the other six, while Jack Harrison’s domestic switch to Everton at the weekend does not apply.

Leaking

The above list demonstrates the scale of the issue at Leeds United currently, with close to a full team of senior players having all departed for a return of next to nothing.

One silver lining if Feyenoord are successful in taking back Sinisterra on loan is that it would presumably prevent any others from following abroad, even if there are fewer and fewer left to do so and they can still move to the Premier League.

All things being equal Daniel Farke would clearly much rather have the 24-year-old at Elland Road this season, as he would Gnonto, 19, after he started both in the opening day draw with Cardiff where the duo performed well.

But with the situation having reached this stage it wouldn’t be a surprise if the manager now prefered some decent money, for one or both, to spend in the final weeks of the window.

The difficulty with that is not only that time is at a premium to get people in but Sinisterra is believed to have release provisions in his contract so probably wouldn’t fetch market value anyway, after costing around £22million last year [Guardian].

That would no doubt harden the club’s resolve to hold out for big money to sell Gnonto, but unless another side is going to trump the bids from Everton it looks like that might be hard to come by in itself, so currently Farke has two quality attackers in his squad that he can do nothing with.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are definitely interested in a striker that has scored 46 goals since his last move two summers ago.
