Leeds United transfer news: Journalist clarifies stance on Robin Koch Elland Road exit
Graham Smyth claims that there is no clause in Robin Koch’s contract that will allow him to leave on a free transfer due to relegation, according to Leeds United.
BILD reported on 12 June that the 26-year-old was on the market for free and was set to leave Elland Road due to a secret clause in his contract.
However, the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist has laughed off this report and has labelled having such a clause as “insane”.

He wrote on Twitter, “Club say the Bild claim is incorrect. Would be an absolutely insane clause to put in a contract for a player joining a newly promoted side.”
Bonkers
Such a clause was unheard of and it seems like the German media are manufacturing things up in order to get more clicks.
They know Koch’s represented the national team and would want as many players featuring in the Bundesliga.
However, he knew he was upgrading after moving to Elland Road, but relegation certainly complicates the picture for him.

It cannot be said with complete certainty that he will stay as if top-flight clubs in England, Germany or any major country come calling, he could leave.
The good thing is that the club will get a transfer fee as that’s very important given his age and resale value.
They desperately would need to sign top players at the Championship level if they are to guarantee their return to the Premier League.
