Leeds United transfer news drops with brand new ‘bumpy’ verdict

Leeds United fans should be prepared for a difficult transfer window as it is likely to be a bumpy one, according to Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The Sun journalist shared via his personal Twitter account on 23 July, replying to a fan commenting on the loan exits the club has faced this summer, that due to the relegation combined with new owners, things are not like to run smoothly.

This came following a conversation in which Nixon dismissed comments that the 49ers were keeping things under wraps in terms of transfers.

Need to take steps in the right direction

While the comment from Nixon is an easy one to make – of course, things will be bumpy as a fresh start will need time to find its footing – it is one that will point Leeds United fans in the right direction in terms of expectations.

The club have started to take steps in the right direction after securing a deal for Ethan Ampadu following the official completion of 49ers Enterprises’ takeover of the club, but will need a clear direction on incoming signings, as the outgoings continue to emerge.

The fans in discussion with Nixon seemed to be right. The club have done well at keeping movement under wraps since the takeover, with Ampadu’s signing not reported until it was almost official, and Max Wober’s exit only made apparent by Daniel Farke’s comments.

Completing deals for further incoming players such as Karl Darlow will be a boost to fans, while the club need to either let players go or ensure they stay, amid plenty of uncertainty regarding their squad for the start of the season.

With Max Wober, Leo Hjelde, and Illan Meslier the latest players to be linked to an Elland Road exit, the club will need to be proactive on incoming signings, with plenty of movement expected in the coming weeks.

In other Leeds United news, Leeds need to capitalise on PSG player’s latest update with a deal on the cards.
