Leeds United transfer news: Diego Llorente update emerges as Jose Mourinho wants to sign him

The entourage of Leeds United defender Diego Llorente are reportedly waiting on what Roma do with an Elland Road exit set in stone.

According to Romagiallorossa [16 June], he will “certainly” be leaving Leeds this summer and Jose Mourinho wants to sign him permanently.

However, Mourinho has other plans in mind and based on those moves he will make the decision whether or not to sign the Spain international on a permanent basis.

It’s pretty evident that Llorente wants nothing to do with Leeds and it looks like that feeling flows both ways.

He fell down the pecking order at Elland Road under Jesse Marsch before he was allowed to leave on loan in January.

While he may have done decently in Italy, it could be that the game there that suits him with English football being more pacey and aggressive.

Given Roma’s interest, Leeds can even demand a decent transfer fee for him and that could be ideal as they can go and sign someone who can be a quality defender in the Championship.

The priority certainly needs to be to get out of the second tier and they can then focus on what Premier League football brings.

Once a new manager is announced, things are expected to quicken but that needs to be the priority as of now.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
