Leeds United transfer news: Diego Llorente January exit on cards amid Roma development
New Roma manager Daniele De Rossi has changed his first-team strategy and that could result in Leeds United defender Diego Llorente leaving, per Marco Conterio.
The Tutto Mercato Web journalist claims that De Rossi wants a new left-back in January and Angelino is close to moving to the Old Lady.
Llorente, who is on loan from Leeds, could be made redundant once the Spanish full-back joins.
Conterio wrote on Twitter: “Angelino one step away from Roma.
“He will resolve with Galatasaray and from RBLeipzig he will go on loan to the Giallorossi. Change of strategy, with the move to a back four, De Rossi asked for a left back.”
“Diego Llorente may leave on loan from Leeds.”
Not needed
Daniel Farke seems unlikely to welcome him back given the strong defensive performances from Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk in the centre-back positions.
The duo have formed a solid partnership, showcasing excellent understanding and reliability in the heart of Leeds’ defence.
Additionally, Liam Cooper has proven to be a dependable backup, providing depth to Farke’s defensive options.
Rodon and Struijk have been exceptional, making it challenging for Llorente to secure a spot in the starting lineup while Ethan Ampadu has also shown that he can fill in whenever needed.
If Llorente does end up returning as Roma may exercise the option, Leeds must look to sell him permanently as they’ll be able to make decent money from his sale.
That money can then be used towards signing either a new full-back or number 10, depending on what Farke’s priority is in the coming days.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that the Whites are seriously considering acceptable offers for one player with a new signing on the cards.
