Leeds United transfer news as Wilfried Gnonto exit depends on 49ers Enterprises – Alan Myers
Alan Myers believes Wilfried Gnonto’s exit from Leeds United depends on the 49ers Enterprises and they are in total control of the situation.
The Sky Sports journalist, taking to his personal Twitter account (18 August) to respond to a fan’s question regarding Gnonto’s potential move to Everton said that nothing will happen unless the 49ers decide it.
Sky Sports reported on 16 August, on their live transfer blog (15:38) that Everton had submitted a mega £25m bid for Gnonto’s services with add-ons and a sell-on clause included for which Leeds rejected [Corriere dello Sport, 17 August].
And according to Myers, the 49ers are in control of the situation as they stand firm on their stance that Gnonto isn’t for sale.
He tweeted in response to a fan: “Depends on the Leeds owners, they are in control of the situation, nothing happens unless they decide it.”
Will Leeds fold?
At this moment in time, it is terribly uncertain whether Gnonto will be putting on another jersey after the transfer window shuts as this gruelling transfer saga drags on.
While Leeds United are well within their right to command a high fee for Gnonto, £25million seems fair for a player who desperately wants to leave the club and with one Premier League season under his belt.

Indeed, Gnonto has left it pretty late to make his exit intentions clear, especially during a critical period in the transfer market with the Whites still having plenty of deals to do.
But it simply makes no sense to keep an unhappy player in the camp as it could seriously derail the morale around the dressing room and the progress that manager Daniel Farke is intending to embark on in their race for promotion. With just two weeks of the window left, will the 49ers eventually fold or will they stand firm?
If they want to ensure Farke is given the best conditions and environment to do what he does best, then it’s best they allow Gnonto to leave in all fairness.
However, it will be understandable if failure to secure a replacement in the market means they won’t change their stance. But there’s still some time left.
