Leeds United transfer news as update emerges on Helder Costa stance for 2023/24 season

Graham Smyth has issued an update on Helder Costa after he’s spent two seasons away from Leeds United out on loan at Valencia and Al Ittihad.

According to Yorkshire Evening Post’s journalist [30 June], he is not expected to make a “shock comeback” to the first-team picture for next season.

This means that either a loan exit or permanent exit may be on the cards for the 29-year-old Angola international.

Not needed

Costa can go back to Saudi or wherever he wants and win leagues in irrelevant competitions because he’s not good enough even for the Championship.

Given the quality in the Leeds attack, even with a few of them on their way out, there’s hardly a chance of him getting game time.

Daniel Farke, who’s expected to be the next Leeds manager, is unlikely to want someone who’s not really challenging for a first-team spot close to his thirties to be in the side.

Leeds United

Leeds must see if they can get anything from his sale as he’s clearly a liability and they desperately need to raise funds in order to strengthen this summer.

There will be exits of players they do not want that will also rake in money but this is a player that they desperately would want to get rid of.

Hopefully, the Middle East shows interest in buying him outright as they will be able to shell out a decent sum of money as well.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
