Leeds United transfer news as Sky Sports journalist shares Wilfried Gnonto update amid Everton links

Everton are still keen on Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto whose exit could be quickened amid a recent development, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist reacted to the Phil Hay and David Ornstein Athletic update on Friday (18 August) as the 19-year-old has submitted a written transfer request at Elland Road.

The Toffees are understood to be readying another bid after seeing multiple offers for him being turned down.

Via Twitter, Myers responded to a question about the transfer saga reaching a quicker resolution because of this by saying, “It might.”

Messy

This situation appears to be getting more and more messy with each passing day with new twists and turns.

Leeds are well within their right to resist any offers they receive from Everton or any other side keen on signing him.

On the other hand, the 19-year-old can also hand in a transfer request and it’s on how the board and manager decide to handle it.

Leeds United

Keeping a disgruntled player who can fetch close to £30million makes little sense as he might down tools until the window opens again.

The exits of Rodrigo, Max Wober and Tyler Adams surely would have upset fans and this is likely to do the same.

It will bring in good money and it’s about time that the Whites start spending that as there’s not long left before the window slams shut.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites need to table a ‘Convincing’ bid to sign a striker as EFL rivals’ stance emerges on his sale this summer.
