Leeds United transfer news as ‘shock’ twist in Deadline Day fight for Nottingham Forest ace Joe Worrall

Nottingham Forest have left a loan exit for Joe Worrall “too late” in the January transfer window, amid interest from Leeds United, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist reported via X on Thursday (1 February) that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had allowed the out-of-favour centre-back to leave the City Ground on loan, but such a deal has now been allowed too late in the month.

Nixon had reported on his Patreon page that Daniel Farke’s side could step in to secure the defender on a temporary basis ahead of the transfer deadline, however, that now appears unlikely given how late this development has come in the window.

Writing on X, Nixon said: “Forest left this move too late … shock.”

Too late

Leeds United have left most of their incoming business incredibly late in the January transfer window, but it appears as though this deal has come too late in the day for the Whites to even get it over the line.

Farke will have had his targets ahead of this month and while he would have surely liked them to arrive at Elland Road prior to deadline day, he won’t want to be rushing deals at the eleventh hour.

Forest wouldn’t have wanted to lose Worrall without having a replacement in place, but it just seems that this deal was never particularly destined to happen for whatever reason.

Hopefully, Farke can get the rest of his targets signed before the window closes, but Leeds supporters shouldn’t be looking to rush out to buy their Worrall shirts by the looks of things.
