Leeds United transfer news as Robin Koch links to Newcastle emerge - Fabrizio Romano

Leeds United defender Robin Koch has plenty of clubs interested in his services ahead of this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer guru has reported that nothing is advanced in terms of an exit yet, with Newcastle United one of the clubs mentioned in the race for Koch elsewhere.

Koch broke his silence on Monday 13 March to admit that he would love to captain the Whites one day, with contract talks underway at Elland Road [Yorkshire Evening Post].

Writing in his latest column for Caught Offside, Romano shared the latest news surrounding the German international and his future at Elland Road.

“On links with Robin Koch – Newcastle are still preparing their summer strategy, I’m not sure the targets are 100% clear at this stage,” he wrote.

“For sure they will be busy and they are tracking many players.

“Koch has many clubs interested but it’s not something advanced at this stage.”

No chance?

Leeds are currently stuck in limbo yet again.

With relegation a real possibility into the Championship, it is hard to plan ahead knowing what type of budget will be needed with players likely needing to be sold should that happen to balance the books.

Koch appears happy at Elland Road, but he would likely be one of those who would want to move on if the drop happens, with his spot in the German side still up for grabs.

A new contract is also on the table ready for if Leeds do stay in the Premier League though, so the scenarios are never-ending right now with the state of play changing every week right now.

Victor Orta will be in those talks with his representatives, alongside the likes of the 49ers Enterprises, who will be paying his wages should their takeover be completed as expected.

Newcastle will have big money to spend again, so the threat of that will never disappear, but for now, Koch appears to be more than satisfied with life in West Yorkshire.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared a massive regret of the Elland Road faithful as the club made an official announcement a few days ago.
