Leeds United transfer news as Phil Hay shares verdict on Luis Sinisterra exit

Phil Hay does not appear fully convinced that Luis Sinisterra will be a Leeds United player post the 11pm deadline on Friday (1 September).

The Athletic journalist was asked about potential exits before the window closes and while he admits that fringe players are expected to be shown the door, the Colombian could also depart.

In his view, there is still not a 100 per cent certainty over the 24-year-old committing to staying at Elland Road for the next five months.

He told the Square Ball at 48:31, “On the outgoings front, I think there will be moves for some of the fringe players. Sinisterra, I really he hope stays, but I kind of feel like [he might leave]. I do wonder.”

Surely not?

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported on 30 August that his future was far from certain and that’s a view shared by Hay as well.

The Colombian went on strike a few weeks ago and at that point in time, the chances of an exit were certainly high.

He was training away from the first team and that’s because Daniel Farke did not want negative energy surrounding the players.

However, since then, it’s felt like things have been resolved and Sinisterra played extremely well in the games against Ipswich Town and Salford City.

Until the window is open, Leeds fans will not be able to breathe easy as he’s perhaps the only first-team regular who could still be on his way out.

Unless the money is too good to turn down, the Whites hierarchy do not need to consider the sale of the Colombian attacker.

In other Leeds United news, agents and personal terms update has emerged as the Whites have agreed a fee for another new signing.
