Leeds United transfer news as Norwich respond to £4m Kenny McLean bid

Leeds United have made a £4million bid to secure the services of Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The English media outlet reported in its transfer centre on Monday (28 August, 21:17), that an offer for the 31-year-old has been turned down.

McLean, a Scotland international, has previously worked under Daniel Farke and has won two league titles for the Canaries.

Can do better?

Given the names in midfield that Leeds have been linked to – Glen Kamara, Nadiem Amiri and the likes, McLean does not seem nearly as good enough.

He’s also on the wrong side of 30 and he’s not going to offer too much in the years to come even though he might be a short-term fix.

This one seems Farke wants players he’s previously worked with through the door and while that’s understandable, he’s not the same midfielder he was back when the German was in charge at Carrow Road.

Hopefully, a bid for McLean does not mean that their other midfielder pursuits have failed and they’ve now turned to the Scotsman.

They need to secure the deal for Kamara and see where Amiri’s head is at and give him the assurance he needs to get that one over the line.

It does not make sense to pay more than £4million for the Norwich midfielder this summer.

In other Leeds United news, agents and personal terms update has emerged as the Whites have agreed fee for another new signing.
