Leeds United transfer news as new club in race to sign Everton striker Tom Cannon

Sampdoria have now joined Leeds United in the race to secure the services of Everton striker Tom Cannon, according to La Repubblica.

The Italian media outlet reported on Monday (14 August) that the club owned by Andrea Radrizzani is aiming to beat Leeds to the services of the 20-year-old striker.

Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers claimed on 2 August that the Englishman is likely to leave Goodison Park on loan this summer.

Not Radz again

The last thing the Whites will want is for their former owner to beat them to the services of a transfer target this summer.

Leeds obviously cannot target regular starters at Premier League clubs but they can certainly make moves for younger players.

Whether or not Cannon is an upgrade on Joe Gelhardt remains to be seen and they could be better off signing more senior strikers.

They need to target names who’ve shone in the Championship for a few years or look to one of the lesser leagues in Europe for strikers who want the chance to play in the Premier League eventually.

Signing players like Cannon may not address their woes in the final third and things need to move quickly but better options lined up for the Whites.

Daniel Farke certainly will be fuming after how the last few weeks have unfolded at Elland Road with regards to transfers.

In other Leeds United news, the club could look to rekindle their interest in a Golden Boot winner who Daniel Farke will love and it will take £15million to get the deal done.
