Leeds United transfer news as moves considered over Joseph Paintsil deal
Leeds United are now carefully considering their next move as Genk decided to reject their first offer for Joseph Paintsil, according to Ryan Taylor.
The Daily Express journalist reported on Friday (25 August) that the counter proposal by the Belgian side exceeded their initial offer.
The opening offer was worth £8.5million for the 25-year-old Ghana international.
Via Twitter, Taylor wrote, “Leeds remain in talks to sign Genk winger Joseph Paintsil. First offer worth €10m rejected but Whites are carefully considering next move after receiving counter-proposal which exceeds their initial valuation. Southampton swap deal involving Paul Onuachu not happening.”
Another bid incoming?
Leeds do not have an abundance of resources so they cannot just keep bidding with increments to get this deal over the line.
It’s normal to see the first bid rejected for a player and this should not dissuade Leeds from their pursuit to sign the attacker.
If he’s someone Daniel Farke wants then they’ve got to give him the players he desires in order to get them back to the top flight.

The German has had prior experience in getting his teams promoted and he can surely do this with the Whites this season.
Under the new ownership structure, they know that the brand will be more valuable if they are in the best league in the world.
Hopefully, the next bid satisfies Genk and then things can progress with the Whites getting another signing over the line.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have now emerged as favourites to sign a Premier League player likened to Lionel Messi.
